Which Racesafe body protector is best for you?

Whatever your discipline, be it Eventing, Show Jumping, Pony Club, Endurance, Racing hacking or Driving, Equisafety has got your back…

Eventing

For the cross-country phase, British Eventing and British Riding Clubs require you to wear a Level 3 body protector, certified to either the BETA 2009 or BETA 2018 standards. If an Air Jacket is used for the cross-country phase, it must be worn over (not instead of) a permitted body protector.

As a guide, these rules are very similar across Europe, but contact each governing body individually for confirmation. We believe Australia and NZ also have similar requirements. Even when not required within the rules, using a certified body protector is important way of guaranteeing suitable protection.

The ProVent 3.0 is our top recommendation and most popular option for eventing.

It’s lighter than any other body protector of its kind on the market, with a really flexible & breathable design. It also features an elasticated adjustment which helps make it our most comfortable model to date. The feedback from eventers of all levels has been fantastic and we’d certainly recommend trying one.

For those wanting a full colour range and smart satin outer, we recommend our RS2010 model. Featuring a similar flexible segmented design as the ProVent.            Credit: Photo Peter Nixon. Equisafety’s Sponsored Rider Simon Grieve.

Showjumping

For many countries in Europe, Junior riders are required to wear BETA 2009/2018 (Level 3) body protectors for showjumping. For other riders they are optional protection.

The RS2010 & ProVent are the most popular options for showjumping, both certified the latest BETA 2018 (Level 3). The RS2010 features a smart satin outer, available in black and navy blue as standard. A total of 21 colours are available as a custom option. The ProVent is our lightest and most breathable option, available in a black net outer.

Pony Club

The Pony Club makes the use of body protectors compulsory for all cross country riding and Pony Racing whether it be training or competing. If a Body protector is worn for any Pony Club activity it must meet BETA 2009/18 (Level 3) standard.

The ProVent 3.0 is now our most popular option for Pony Club.

It’s lighter than any other body protector of its kind on the market, with a really flexible & breathable design. It also features an elasticated adjustment which helps make it our most comfortable model to date. Available in a comprehensive size range for children and adults.
For those wanting a full colour range and smart satin outer, we recommend our RS2010 model. Featuring a similar flexible segmented design as the ProVent 3.0. Available in a full range of 21 colour range (coming soon), or in single or 2 coloured designs.

Endurance

For lightweight, breathable comfort, our ProVent 3.0 is a popular option for endurance riders wanting the highest BETA 2018 (Level 3) protection.

Racing

For race riding in Britain, Ireland and most of Europe, Jockeys are required to wear a body protector certified to a minimum of Level 2 (EN13158:2009/2018). For exercising and working in racing, most yards require a level 3 (EN13158:2009/2018) body protector to be worn.

A BETA 2009 (Level 3) or BETA 2018 (Level 3) body protector must be worn for Pony Racing.

Outside of Europe, Jockeys race riding are generally required to wear a body protector certified to a minimum of Level 1 (EN13158:2009/2018).

Our ProRace series of body protector are our racing recommendation. They are available in a separate racing focussed size range, with a choice of regular or race tail back lengths. The 3 models offer the 3 levels of available protection.

ProRace 1.0 (Level 1) is the lightest model, from 450g and is suitable for professional jockeys race riding in countries where Level 1 is permissible.

ProRace 2.0 (Level 2) is our most popular choice for Jockeys when race riding. Designed in conjunction with racing authorities to offer Level 2 protection at leading weight (from 550g) and comfort levels.

ProRace 3.0 (Level 3) offers the lightest Level 3 protection available. Suitable for Jockeys wanting the highest level of protection, along with those exercising and working in racing.

The ProVent 3.0 also offers Level 3 protection, with the same weight and comfort of the ProRace 3.0. If you would like a more comprehensive size range, this is a great option to consider.

Hacking

For comfort, breathability & protection our top pick is our ProVent 3.0. This latest model has shown riders of all shapes and sizes that body protectors no longer have to be considered uncomfortable. Whether its climbing on and off, hacking on a warm summers day, or wanting freedom of movement, the ProVent has proved a hugely popular option for lots of riders. Available in a comprehensive size range for range for adults and children.

Driving

Body Protectors are generally compulsory for Marathons and must be suitably certified.

The ProVent 3.0 & RS2010 offer the highest level of BETA 2018 (Level 3) protection combined with unbeatable freedom of movement. Available in an extensive size range, with an option of 4 back lengths for each size. This ensures a short enough back length for drivers in a seated position to have the movement they need.
