Simon Grieve is a new ambassador for Equisafety

WE ARE THRILLED TO ANNOUNCE A NEW AMBASSADOR FOR EQUISAFETY FROM THE EVENTING WORLD.

Event rider Simon Grieve & Equisafety join forces.
Leicestershire-based international event rider, Simon Grieve, regularly competes at CCI4* level at Badminton, Burghley and Pau and can be found contesting both British Eventing and FEI events around the UK throughout the season.
However, a recent altercation with a car has led to talks with Equisafety. Equisafety is now very proud to announce that Simon will now be an ambassador of Equisafety’s and both look forward to promoting the importance of wearing high viz when out riding.
“Myself, and another rider, were hacking down single-track road,” says Simon, “I heard a car coming so we pulled into a lay-by, but unfortunately as the car passed, my horse spooked into its path.
“I hit my leg on the car and the horse hit his shoulder, but luckily we were okay as was the driver. It wasn’t until we arrived back on the yard, checked the horse over thoroughly, that I began to run over the ‘what ifs’.
Simon continues: I was wearing hi-vis, but working alongside Equisafety, I hope to encourage drivers to pass wide and slow, and also by myself and my team wearing it, encourage other riders to see that wearing it, whenever you’re out riding, whatever the weather, is important.
“If the driver hadn’t been aware of me that day, goodness only knows what the outcome would have been!”
Says Managing Director, Nicky Fletcher; “When I read about Simon’s recent accident whilst out hacking I contacted him to see if there was a way we could work together, and I’m delighted that this has now come into fruition. Many people do not believe that riders of this calibre actually hack out on roads, so to be able to sponsor an event rider as fantastic as Simon who is as passionate as we are about high viz, is fantastic. Equisafety is really looking forward to an exciting year working with Simon, we have lots of exciting things planned for this year, so watch this space”.
