The REVOLVE X-Air MIPS Jockey Helmet offers the same features as the X-Air Plus, but with the addition of the MIPS Brain Protection System. The lightweight injection moulded ABS shell is finished with a durable painted acrylic and sand finish, with a four point synthetic suede harness featuring rear lacing adjustment and quick release buckle. The helmet benefits from a highly ventilated airflow system and removable crown comfort padding constructed from heat formed Poly/Nylon with breathable mesh panel inserts. The REVOLVE X-Air MIPS jockey helmet is also available in Champion’s Junior range.

What is MIPS

MIPS - Born from science

The founders of Mips have spent decades studying the relationship between brain injuries and helmet construction. Years of research and testing occurred before the first helmet with a Mips® safety system (an equestrian helmet) came to life in 2007. Today you can find Mips® safety systems in helmets from most major helmet manufacturers and for main activities including cycling, snow sports, motorsports, team sports and even construction. How does a Mips® safety system work?

The Mips® safety system features a low-friction layer inside a climbing helmet that allows a multi-directional movement of 10-15mm on certain angled impacts, intended to help reduce rotational force to the head.

Where is the Mips® safety system located on a helmet?

It is found inside the helmet, generally between the padding and the foam protective layer. There are different Mips® systems, but all consist of a low-friction layer between the helmet and the head.

Which equestrian helmets have Mips® safety systems?

Our engineers work with many different brands on safety for helmets without compromising ventilation, comfort and fit. Once the Mips® safety system is fitted into a helmet model, we conduct thorough tests to ensure the helmet model meets Mips safety standards.

Does a Mips® safety system add a lot of extra weight to the helmet?

Mips® technologies weigh between 25-45 grams, not much more than the weight of a typical energy bar.
